We Are Codere Construction
If we’re building or renovating your home, it’s only fair you get to know us! Learn what makes us Codere Construction.
Our Approach
We’re motivated by innovative designs, technical challenges, and the promise of that stunned smile when our clients tour their finished homes. With every year, we strive for a higher level of sustainability, reducing construction waste, increasing home efficiency, and welcoming eco-friendly materials. Every project is different—that’s what makes it exciting—but there are a few principles we will always adhere to:
- Transparency & Communication: Surprises are for birthday parties, not construction projects, so trust that we’ll be transparent every step of the way. The process of building a home is full of decisions. We’ll always communicate with you about your options and their costs and implications for the project.
- Taking Your Time & Doing it Right: Quality work that looks just as beautiful five years from finish as it did the first day you walked in is our top priority. We always select the best materials, never overload our team, and the results show it.
- Trust & Partnership: From our first consultation we’ll determine if we’re the right fit for you (and if you’re the right fit for us). The most stunning projects come when we have trust and partnership. Just read what our clients have said .
Our History
Codere Construction began in 2001 as the one-man operation of Owner & President, Ben Codere, taking on kitchen renovations, bathroom remodels, and porch or deck builds around central Maine. He built a portfolio on a high level of craftsmanship and in 2010 Codere Construction was officially incorporated. But when the company made the move to Scarborough in 2002, they needed to break into the competitive Southern Maine market. Ben took out an ad in yellow pages—yes, yellow pages—and awaited the work. But what did the trick was not any advertising, it was the community. Past clients spread the word faster than any paid media could and soon the calendar was full of projects and the Codere team was growing.
Now more than 20 years in business, Codere Construction builds and renovates high end homes across Southern Maine, from historical West End homes, to serene lake house retreats on Sebago, and stunning ocean view residences in Cape Elizabeth. And still the community is one of the best parts about building homes in coastal Maine.
Nothing is quite as rewarding as the excitement and gratitude of a client who has just fallen in love with their home. We live for the exceptional feedback and the knowledge that years after a project is complete, that giddiness remains. Over the years Codere Construction has built homes that push the standards of craftsmanship, made lifelong friends of clients, witnessed families grow, and best of all, reflected the joy and beauty of living in Maine through our work.

Ben Codere, Owner & President
Ben is one of those lucky few who knew very early what he wanted to do with his career—it was love at first Lego, you might say. At age 10 he hired himself (confidence is everything) to work alongside a construction crew at his aunt’s house. Any job on site was a good one, from holding chalk lines to tagging along for material pickups. By high school he was spending his summers working Timber framing projects across central Maine and soon found himself under the mentorship of some of Maine’s best builders. In 2002 his mentors said “hey, you got this,” and he struck out on his own. Every year since has been another step in the complexity and innovation—and beauty, if we do say so—of Ben’s projects.
Out of the shop and off the construction site, Ben is exactly what you’d expect from a Mainer. He loves to surf, ski, mountain bike, and play soccer, often with his son. Catch him catching fish with the Codere crew in Saco Bay.
