Cape Elizabeth is defined by its coastline: Portland Head Light and Fort Williams Park, Two Lights, Crescent Beach and Kettle Cove, with Shore Road tracing the water between them. Homes here are built to take in those views, and they also have to stand up to everything the ocean sends their way.
Salt air and wind exposure shape our material conversations from the first meeting. Siding, windows, decking, fasteners and exterior finishes all need to hold up near the ocean, because quality work should look just as beautiful five years after we finish as it did on move-in day. We make recommendations based on your drawings and budget, and the final call is yours.
Contemporary on the Cape is a good example of how a site can drive the design. Working on a sloped lot gave us room to play with angles and movement: the exterior deck cascades down much like the custom white oak waterfall stairs inside. Vaulted ceilings, a living room with a Venetian plaster fireplace and plenty of windows make every time of day feel different. It was also our first collaboration with Kevin Browne Architecture.
Not every project is a full rebuild. We also renovate kitchens and baths, change layouts and add space to shore-road homes, using the same clear communication and clean job sites on every one.
